i made it home safe and sound from wonderful San Francisco. it was a truly amazing experience, one that i will carry with me for a long time. i learned that i'm not a freak. well, not in a negative way anyhow. being surrounded by people who see body mods the same way i do (being the connection between spirit and flesh) was indescribable.
san fran is definately a city i could see myself living. i was so afraid i was going to get out there and be surrounded by nothing but dirty hippies (hahaha you know i love my dirty hippy friends, anne and ali i'm looking in your direction) but it was a welcome change. the diversity made it easy to get accustomed to. hippies, yuppies, mods, modified they all lived in the same central areas. it was great! and i never want to hear anyone bitch about the homeless in nashville again!!! at least they can play music. the homeless in the soma district were like flies and very aggressive. insanity. but i got to have dinner on haight/ashbury and go in plenty of head shops.
now lets talk fakir. the man is amazing, i feel lucky to have met and studied under his marvelous tutelage. he is an experience unto himself. he has an energy like no other and is constantly smiling (even when he's yelling at you to "move your damn finger"). the instructors were fantastic as well. they were all very calm and if they were judging you, they never let you know. all of the piercings were performed by the instructors and demonstrated on US. so ended up getting both my tragus' pierced as well as my other nostril...

Jess,
I'm so glad you had a great time. I really enjoyed reading this blog. It's nice to know how peaceful you feel. We need to get together soon, and LOL, I love being your dirty hippie friend!
